The Jewish Community Center of Central NJ’s Brody Family Early Learning Center is committed to excellence in education and providing a safe, nurturing school environment for all our children. We are inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia which supports each participant in the learning process as a competent, capable learner. The program is designed to allow children to flourish as they interact with both their physical and social environments. Our curriculum for each age group provides experiences that are meaningful and authentic and respond to the interests of both the children and the staff. Our school celebrates many perspectives and integrates a Jewish expression of values into learning and living.
The core of our preschool program is based on the belief that each child is competent and capable. Children, as natural learners, are full of potential and are guided to explore and question their environment in order to engage in authentic learning.
Transitional Kindergarten, for children that miss the kindergarten age cut-off and children who may benefit from an extra year before moving on to kindergarten, is designed to enhance readiness for kindergarten learning. We will support children’s love of learning and offer encouragement in areas that help develop social, emotional and academic skills needed to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
Full-Day Kindergarten for 5 and 6 year olds combines a progressive academic curriculum and a warm and nurturing environment. The curriculum focuses on the whole child. Reading and literacy skills are developed through guided reading, phonemic awareness, shared reading, interactive read-alouds, creative writing and the integration of other disciplines into the reading world. Everyday Math provides a hands-on approach to mathematics. Social Studies and Science are also part of the kindergarten program as well as specials in art appreciation, music, fitness and swim.
We also offer a half-day kindergarten wrap-around program for children attending morning public school kindergarten. The perfect complement to kindergarten, the JCC's Kindergarten Wrap is academic-based to give your child quality opportunities outside of his or her kindergarten class.
After School at the J is for ages 2 through 7th grade and is offered Monday through Friday with the option to choose the full week or specific days. The program runs from 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. for 2 – 4 year olds and from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. for kindergartners through 8th graders. After School at the J provides structured and enriching after school programs in a safe and supportive environment with the benefit of all that the JCC facilities have to offer.
